Innovative Technology:  Listen to a specially-filtered musical playlist, the Safe and Sound Protocol, that works by sending signals to your subconscious that the stress is over and it's safe to release and relax.

Creative Time:  Turn your mind 'off' and your creativity 'on' as we listen to the music.  Practicing creativity primes your mind for a future full of creative solutions.

Somatic Connection: Each session begins with a check in and body calming activity.  Supercharge your healing through this simple act of connection and co-regulation.

Flexibility & Easy Access:  Meet me online or book in person sessions in Park Ridge, IL.  We'll work at your pace, scheduling appointments when your schedule allows.  The supply list is short and portable, making this easy to complete at home, the office or on the road.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How long does it take?
We expect you to complete the program in 8 weeks or less. Some clients have been able to complete it in half that time. At Retune Health, we tailor this program to meet your scheduling needs by offering various online options throughout the week. Our goal is for you to book between two and five 30 minute online sessions with us weekly until you complete the protocol.
  • How long do the effects last?
While results vary by client, most clients begin seeing positive results after just a few sessions and are able to maintain those feelings of balance and ease for many months after they've completed the protocol. Additionally, each client receives access to a 12 month license to the therapeutic music so that they can self-administer 'tune-ups' as needed throughout the year.
  • What is the Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP)?
Developed by world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges, the SSP is an evidence-based listening therapy that re-tunes the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, in-person or remotely. The SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more. Learn more at www.whatisthessp.com.
  • Do you take insurance?
You can submit your receipt for the Retune Health's Safe and Sound Protocol programs to your HSA for reimbursement under the category of Medical Equipment and User Support for Medical Equipment. Retune Health is unable to accept medical insurance at this time.
  • Do you work with children?
Retune Health works with adults, ages 18 and over. If you or someone you care for is interested in completing the Safe and Sound Protocol, contact us and we'll put you in touch with a provider that specializes in working with children in your community.
  • Who should not complete the Safe and Sound Protocol?
Because the Safe and Sound Protocol stimulates both the middle ear structure and the vagus nerve, which is responsible for regulating stress in the body, anyone with the following conditions should avoid the Safe and Sound Protocol for health and safety reasons. This includes anyone: with any conditions related to the structure of the ear such as a perforated or ruptured eardrum, stapedectomy or tympanostomy tubes experiencing active psychosis, including anyone on antipsychotic medication or with a psychiatric hospitalization within the past three months with active or uncontrolled seizures demonstrating intentional self harm or actively reporting thoughts of suicide If you have any concerns about your own medical or mental health history and how this would impact your experience with the Safe and Sound Protocol, please schedule a free consultation with Retune Health to discuss your questions.
  • Does the Safe and Sound Protocol have any side effects?
Side effects from the Safe and Sound Protocol, such as increased feelings of stress in the body, mind and emotions, are only possible if the client ingests more of the listening therapy than the body is ready to handle. Retune Health providers limit this risk because we understand that each client is unique. As such, we tailor the listening protocol to fit the needs of each person and limit stress and unnecessary side effects as a result.
